Description:
‘42,000 Chickens Live in Here’ was an interactive exhibition that showcased the scale of intensive poultry farms for St Anne’s House in Bristol. Two 1:32 architectural models exposed the living conditions of the chickens and the factory’s waste-outputs. The chickens were represented by soybeans, the same ingredient in their feed. The models were forensically reconstructed from photographs, planning applications and open source information.
Design:
Interactive and portable architectural models of factory farms, forensically reconstructed through supply chain research to make an accurate and comprehensible representation of factory farming.
The exhibition visualised the welfare conditions and environmental impacts of factory farming in an accessible format. The relaxing and creative sensory experience facilitated deeper learning and discussions around the meat industry and food systems. Play was encouraged.
The models are flat-pack and available for hire.
