Description:
Toxic Trade-Off modelled nutrient pollution from factory farms in England against areas with the highest levels of housing demand. We discovered that a third of English councils with the highest projected housing demand are in areas where it is too polluted to build new homes, with factory farming pollution being a major cause.
Design:
A static map that visualised the crossover between nutrient pollution from factory farms, nitrate vulnerable zones and the areas with the highest levels of housing demand. Nutrient colours referenced water quality testing kits for phosphorus and nitrogen. Published as a physical report that was distributed at the Labour Party Conference.
