Comissioned by Friends of the Earth Northern Ireland.
Description:
‘Mapped’ demonstrates the scale, spread and impact of factory farmed chickens and pigs in Northern Ireland. We mapped pollution permits and planning applications to create detailed maps of pig and poultry farms, and tracked the growth in intensive livestock units between 1990 to 2025. For the first time, we mapped the supply chains of Northern Ireland’s dominant poultry meat, egg and pig agribusinesses. To uncover the industry’s environmental impact, we quantified and visualised the volume and spread of its nutrient pollution around the UK’s largest lake, Lough Neagh.
Design:
A series of interactive maps of poultry and pig farming in Northern Ireland that adhered to Friends of the Earth’s design specifications. A thorough 140 page report with extensive mapping and data visualisation, with additional supply chain maps that were drawn in the brand colours of each company.
Folding printed map (in progress) for campaigning in the field and for use in meetings and engagements.
